A true one stop Provider
W
e want to move to the point where we can become our customers' one-stop transportation service provider. We are moving away from the full trailer-load carrier/one-services mentality to one that says, "If our customers tell us what they have, where it needs to be and when it needs to get there, then we can move it for them"

That's how Raed Al-Samahiji Deputy Managing Director characterizes his company's strategic direction - a direction that has taken a lot of hard work to achieve. Delmon now has the systems, network and capability in place to meet virtually any transportation-related need a customer may have.

Taking Service to New Levels

Evidence of this evolution to a one-stop transportation provider is perhaps best demonstrated by Delmon's new Ground Delivery service. With this new service, Delmon can now deliver specific, same -day or next -day shipments anywhere in Bahrain.

Reengineering the Business

Ground Delivery service isn't the only thing new at Delmon. Over the last two years, the company, which now posts revenues in excess of BD2.5 million, completely reengineered it's transportation process. The purpose of this reengineering: To gain the ability to react quickly to customers needs. "Our capabilities with Ground Delivery are good example of this agility, Raed explains. "Say a customer puts his goods onto our vehicles and halfway through decides those goods need to be delivered to a new location. We have the ability to locate our vehicle wherever it is and reroute it to its new address or location." Delmon is also expanding its international services to meet customer's demand for a more global offering, including international freight forwarding and customs clearance.

Driven by the Customers

The overall driver to these changes is Delmon's commitment to be a market-driven leader in heavy transportation. "We have moved out of the regulated, internally focused mind-set to a completely customer-centric focus, " Raed says, "Everything we do starts with the customer."

As Delmon evolves, its strategy is to become more than just a heavy transportation company. This means that Delmon is committed to adding real value to the transportation equation. "We've been very successful with a number of customers on this score. For example Delmon has partnered with a number of retailers on the island to squeeze thousands of Dinars out of those retailers supply chains.

"Flexibility is the key in the transportation industry today, "says Raed. "We can no longer afford to tell a customer that we can't do something. It takes a complete service portfolio to compete. For the first time ever, Delmon can ask customers what they need. Then we go do it."
